The Friends of Victoria Hospital Shop has been trading for over twenty years and since it moved premises in 2023 they have found the footfall has increased and in turn so has their contribution to the funds of “The Friends“ Charity.

The shop holds a wide range of quality second hand (and sometimes even new) clothes, and goods, at modest prices. The Whistle Fish cards are popular with customers because they combine quality with a competitive price.

Not only is the shop an opportunity to purchase some bargain items it is also a contact place for supporters and it keeps the name awareness of “The Friends” within the heart of the town. The shop always holds a copy of the latest Newsletter and will also hold information about any recent financial support the charity will have given to the hospital.

The shop accepts most donations but occasionally they may have to decline items if the stock room is too full or they are overloaded with a certain type of item. The shop is compact so, unfortunately, they are unable to accept large pieces of furniture. (If in doubt about any item please give a call to check it out).

Opening hours: The shop is open 10.00 am – 4.00pm Monday to Saturday (subject to staffing issues at any time).

Shop Managers

The Manager Sarah, and Deputy Manager Natasha, are employed by the charity. They manage the day to day running of the shop and their priority is to ensure customers can easily see what great donations they have received. The donations are so appreciated, and Sarah and Natasha wish to say thank you to all those that make the effort to bring them in.

Volunteers

Apart from Sarah and Natasha all other staff in the shop are volunteers. There are around 20 volunteers that provide that valuable volunteer support. There is always a space for more volunteers and if that is of interest please call in at the shop or ring 01202 84803 to discuss further.

Retail Gift Aid

If donors are taxpayers then they are encouraged to make sure they have completed a Gift Aid form. Completing one of those forms means the benefit to “The Friends” is that the sale price of all their items will be enhanced, by HMRC, by a further 25%. The more Gift Aid forms we can receive then the greater the profit for the charity.
