During this unusual time the trustees have continued to meet remotely, but face-to-face meetings ceased from April 2020 until May 2021. Face-to-face meetings of the trustees' committee and the AGM are planned for July 2021.
The charity's 2020 audit was carried out in August 2020, and a newsletter was published in September 2020, facilitating a remote AGM. The 2021 audit was carried out at the normal date of April, and a newsletter was published in June 2021, returning to our normal pattern of publication. The Friends have supported the hospital by funding and securing practical help from volunteers who have adapted headbands for nurses, made individual laundry bags and sewn scrubs for staff. Our Facebook page has proved valuable in publicising needs and facilitating contacts. We also funded the hire of a portable shower facility in both 2020 and 2021 for staff working with Covid patients.
We normally publish newsletters twice a year. One edition comes out during June, the other either in the autumn or winter. The newsletter is posted to all members.
In our newsletters we aim to keep our members in touch with developments at the hospital and inform them of policy issues which might affect it. We also indicate how the Friends have been able to help, and explain the use of some of the medical equipment we fund.
